April 10, Cherryhill Township Driver-Operators John Oswalt and Bill Cochran successfully completed a 16-hour Pump I course at the annual Cambria County Fire School weekend. Pump I reviews basic concepts of pump operations and various considerations for the pump operator related to friction loss, basic pump operations, and securing a water supply. In addition, Jody Rainey successfully completed a course Command Response to Mayday Emergencies. This course provided considerations for the Command Officer in Mayday prevention, Mayday response preparedness, and Mayday management. Mayday case studies were used in conjunction with class discussion to better prepare the command officer to prevent, prepare and respond in the event of a Mayday.
