Inspecting and maintaining equipment is an essential responsibility of a firefighter. Every piece of equipment is vital to protecting the firefighter or aiding the firefighter in protecting life, property and the environment. Inspecting and maintaining equipment for a constant state of readiness is a time consuming, but a necessary and highly important task. On April 12, Cherryhill Township firefighters tested, inspected and serviced 2500 feet of our Large Diameter Hose (LDH) from Engines 241 and 242.

During inspection 200 feet of hose was found to have issues that required the removal of 200 feet of LDH hose from service. The failure of the LDH on an alarm would have interrupted water supply to firefighters and potentially place fire suppression crews at risk due to lack of sufficient water for a firefight. Cherryhill Township appreciates the firefighters willing to give of their time to complete the task of equipment testing, inspection and service to maintain a constant state of readiness of our equipment to protect and aid firefighters serving our community.
